COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Professional Accounting major is a two-year postgraduate program designed to develop advanced accounting expertise, professional judgement, and practical skills required for careers in accounting, auditing, financial management, and corporate reporting. In the first year, students establish a strong foundation through units such as Financial Principles and Analysis, Fundamentals of Business and Corporations Law, Intermediate Financial Accounting, and Intermediate Management Accounting. They further enhance their knowledge through Accounting Systems in the Digital Age, Intermediate Corporate Accounting, Business Analytics and Data Visualisation, and Global Managerial Economics, gaining skills in financial reporting, digital accounting practices, data analysis, and business decision-making. In the second year, students complete specialised CPA-aligned units including CPA Ethics and Governance, CPA Financial Accounting, CPA Strategic Management Accounting, and Fundamentals of Australian Tax Law. They also undertake advanced studies through the Accounting Research Project, Applied Auditing and Risk Assessment, and CPA Accounting Capstone, allowing them to apply accounting concepts to professional and industry-based challenges. Students can further expand their learning through options such as CPA Advanced Audit and Assurance, CPA Contemporary Business Issues, Commerce Clinic, Internship, or Study Tours. The program combines academic knowledge, professional accounting standards, and practical experience to prepare graduates for roles in auditing, financial reporting, taxation, management accounting, and business advisory services.
