COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Arts (Screen Arts) is a two-year postgraduate program that combines creative practice, research, and professional screen production skills through a structured and industry-focused curriculum. In the first year, students develop foundational knowledge in screen arts by completing units in Approaches to Arts Research, Cinematic Storytelling and Production, Introduction to Screen Practice, and Introduction to Screenwriting. They further enhance their skills through subjects such as Creative Documentary and Actualities, Studio Production, and Planning an Arts Research Project, while selecting electives in areas including engaging narrative and digital and interactive marketing. In the second year, students advance their expertise through units focused on drama narratives and undertake further professional or research-based study. Students complete either a Masters Professional or Creative Project or a Masters Research Project, allowing them to create a substantial body of work or conduct advanced research. Additional elective options provide opportunities to explore professional experience, business project management, narrative nonfiction, social media, digital culture, web media, video news, acting and directing for screen, and corporate and community media production. The program develops advanced creative, technical, analytical, and production capabilities while preparing graduates for careers in film, television, digital media, screenwriting, production, content creation, and other areas of the screen industries.
