COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Arts (Fine Art) is a two-year postgraduate program that combines studio-based practice, research, and professional development through a flexible and industry-focused curriculum. In the first year, students complete core units in Approaches to Arts Research and Planning an Arts Research Project, developing essential research, analytical, and project planning skills. They also undertake either Graduate Fine Art Studio Materials or Graduate Fine Art Studio Methods as a core option and select electives in areas such as drawing, fine art projects, studio extension, studio strategies, fine art concepts and contexts, and Indigenous Australian art and design. These units encourage experimentation, creative exploration, and the development of technical and conceptual skills across a variety of artistic practices. In the second year, students complete either a Masters Professional or Creative Project or a Masters Research Project, allowing them to produce a substantial independent body of work or research project. Additional electives provide opportunities to expand expertise in professional experience, project management, digital culture, social media, web media, advanced studio practice, project development, and contemporary fine art. The program equips students with advanced creative, technical, and critical thinking skills while preparing them for careers as professional artists, curators, educators, arts managers, and other roles within the creative and cultural industries.
