COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Digital and Social Media is a two-year postgraduate program that combines research, digital communication, and professional practice through a flexible and industry-focused curriculum. In the first year, students complete core units in Approaches to Arts Research and Planning an Arts Research Project to develop strong research and analytical skills. They also study either Graduate Web Communications or Graduate Digital Culture and Everyday Life as a core option before selecting electives that explore key areas such as social media marketing, web communications, digital culture, online communities and networks, digital economy, technology and innovation, web media, writing for the web, online games, digital creation, data storytelling, and online power and resistance. In the second year, students complete either a Masters Professional or Creative Project or a Masters Research Project, providing the opportunity to apply their knowledge through an independent research or industry-based project. Additional electives allow further specialisation in professional writing, workplace writing, editing, professional experience, social media marketing, digital communication, and emerging media technologies. The program develops advanced research, communication, content creation, digital strategy, and analytical skills while preparing graduates for careers in digital marketing, social media management, communications, content development, public relations, research, policy, media organisations, and other technology-driven industries.
