COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Science (Nutrition) and Bachelor of Science (Health Promotion) double degree is a four-year program that combines nutrition science with public health and health promotion expertise. In the first year, students develop foundational knowledge through subjects including Introduction to Nutrition Science, Foundations for Professional Health Practice, Health Promotion Principles and Values, Public Health, Culinary Nutrition Practice, Human wellbeing, Indigenous Cultures and Health Behaviours, and introductory chemistry. The second year focuses on developing practical skills in nutrition and health promotion through subjects such as Public Health Nutrition, Health Promotion Methods, Health Promotion Planning and Evaluation, Human Structure and Function, Food and Nutrition Sociology, Health Promotion in Action, Anatomy and Physiology, and Prevention of Non-Communicable Diseases. In the third year, students advance their knowledge through Biochemistry of Nutrition, Nutritional Biochemistry, Nutrient Metabolism, Nutritional Physiology, Epidemiology, Applied Health Promotion Planning, Media and Advocacy, and Health Promotion in Challenging Contexts. The final year emphasises professional practice, research, communication, leadership, and community engagement through Applied Research and Biostatistics, Community Nutrition, Nutrition Communication, Nutritional Epidemiology, Nutrition Professional Practice, and Health Promotion Leadership. Students also explore areas such as Exercise Physiology, Health Equity, Global Public Health, and Health Partnerships. This interdisciplinary structure prepares graduates for careers in public health, nutrition services, health promotion, community programs, research, policy development, and wellbeing initiatives.
