COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Science (Health Promotion) and Bachelor of Science (Health and Safety) double degree is a four-year program designed to develop professional skills in improving community health and managing workplace safety risks. In the first year, students build a strong foundation in health sciences through subjects such as Foundations for Professional Health Practice, Health Promotion Principles and Values, Introduction to Public Health, Health, Safety and Environment, Biostatistics, Human Structure and Function, Indigenous Cultures and Health Behaviours, and Chemistry. The second year focuses on developing practical expertise in health promotion planning, workplace human factors, occupational hygiene, epidemiology, risk assessment, and health promotion methods. In the third year, students advance their knowledge through studies in employment and environmental law, health promotion equity and social justice, workplace health and safety practice, media and advocacy, injury management, workers compensation, toxicology, and safety management. The final year emphasises professional application, research, leadership, and advanced practice through subjects including Applied Research and Biostatistics, Health Promotion in Challenging Contexts, Health and Safety Technology, Emergency Management, Incident Investigation, Health Partnerships, Leadership, and Professional Practice. Throughout the program, students develop the ability to design health initiatives, manage workplace risks, conduct research, and implement evidence-based strategies to improve health outcomes in communities and organisations.
