COURSE CURRICULUM

The Environmental Biology program is structured to provide students with a comprehensive understanding of living systems, biodiversity, ecological processes, and environmental change. After completing foundational studies in the first year, students progress to specialized subjects in the second year, beginning with Animal Diversity and Evolution, which explores animal biology, evolutionary processes, and biodiversity patterns. Students also select an additional unit in areas such as Environmental Impact Assessment or Quantitative Biology, developing skills in environmental evaluation, data analysis, and scientific research methods. In the second semester, students study Applied Genetics and Plant Diversity and Adaptation, gaining knowledge of genetic principles, plant evolution, and adaptations that allow organisms to survive in changing environments. In the third year, students expand their ecological expertise through Terrestrial Ecology, focusing on ecosystem interactions, environmental processes, and species relationships. Students also choose between Wildlife Conservation and STEM Professional Practice, developing skills in conservation management or professional scientific practice. The program includes an Environmental Research Project, providing hands-on experience in scientific investigation, data collection, and environmental problem-solving. Students may also study Behavioural Ecophysiology or professional practice to further develop their understanding of organism behaviour and environmental responses. Overall, the course prepares graduates with practical field, laboratory, analytical, and communication skills for careers in conservation, ecological research, environmental management, and sustainability.
