COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Commerce double degree is structured over five years, integrating comprehensive legal education with specialised business studies. In the first year, students establish a strong legal foundation through subjects including Legal Foundations, Legal Research and Writing, Indigenous Peoples, Law and Justice, and Business, Law and Regulation, while commencing a Commerce major in Accounting, Economics, Finance, Human Resources Management, Marketing, or Taxation. The second year focuses on core private law, covering Introduction to and Advanced Contract Law, as well as Introduction to and Advanced Tort Law. During the third year, students undertake specialised Commerce units according to their selected major, developing advanced business knowledge and professional skills. The fourth year includes essential legal subjects such as Constitutional Law, Criminal Law, Statutory Interpretation, Property Law, Administrative Law, Real Property Law, Evidence, Civil Procedure, Corporate Law, Equity, and Professional Responsibility, providing a comprehensive understanding of the Australian legal system. In the final year, students complete Trusts and select elective law units from a broad range of areas, including Family Law, Human Rights Law, Environmental Law, Intellectual Property, Employment Law, Public International Law, Legal Internship, Corporate Governance, Law and Technology, Consumer Law, Taxation, and Alternative Dispute Resolution. This structure equips graduates with strong legal expertise, specialised business knowledge, and practical skills for diverse professional careers.
