COURSE CURRICULUM

The course structure of the Bachelor of Engineering (Honours), Bachelor of Science double degree is designed to integrate advanced engineering principles with specialised scientific knowledge, creating a multidisciplinary pathway for future-focused careers. In the first year, students complete the Bachelor of Engineering Pre-Major, developing a strong foundation in mathematics, science, engineering concepts and problem-solving skills. From the second year onwards, students select a combined engineering and science major that aligns with their interests and professional goals. Available double degree combinations include Electrical and Electronic Engineering with Computer Science, Data Science or Physics; Energy Engineering with Physics; Environmental Engineering with Environmental Biology and Ecology, Earth Sciences or Environmental Science; Metallurgical Engineering with Earth Sciences; and Mechatronic Engineering with Computer Science or Space and Planetary Science. The selected major combination determines the specialised units studied throughout the remaining years of the program, allowing students to develop both technical engineering expertise and scientific understanding. Through advanced coursework, practical projects, research activities and industry-focused learning, students gain the ability to apply scientific knowledge to real-world engineering challenges. Graduates are equipped for careers in engineering, technology, environmental sustainability, energy, resources, computing, space science and research, with the interdisciplinary skills needed to contribute to innovation and solve complex global problems.
