COURSE CURRICULUM

The Advertising and Design major combines business knowledge with creative design practice to prepare students for successful careers in advertising, branding, and related creative industries. The curriculum is carefully structured to provide authentic learning experiences that reflect professional industry standards, enabling students to develop both strategic and practical skills. Students progress through a series of Advertising Design units, beginning with Advertising Design 1 and advancing through Advertising Design 2, 3, and 4, where they build expertise in visual communication, campaign development, creative problem-solving, and design execution. They also study Integrated Marketing Communications and Contemporary Advertising Practice to understand marketing strategies, consumer behaviour, media planning, and the effective delivery of integrated advertising campaigns. The Art Direction in Design and Advertising unit strengthens students’ abilities to lead creative concepts and produce visually compelling campaigns across multiple platforms. In addition, students can tailor their studies by choosing either Copywriting for Design and Advertising, which focuses on persuasive writing and creative messaging, or Brand Management, which develops expertise in building, positioning, and managing successful brands. Throughout the major, students gain experience in research, idea generation, creative strategy, and campaign planning, preparing them for careers in advertising agencies, branding, digital marketing, creative direction, media production, and communication design.
