COURSE CURRICULUM

The course structure of the Bachelor of Advanced Science (Honours) in Physics is designed to develop advanced knowledge in theoretical physics, experimental methods, mathematics, and computational science. In the first year, students establish a strong foundation through studies in advanced calculus, linear algebra, physics, programming, computer science, and scientific problem-solving. The second year expands students’ understanding of fundamental physics concepts through studies in classical mechanics, quantum physics, electromagnetism, and advanced mathematics, supported by research, leadership, and entrepreneurship development. In the third year, students explore more specialised areas including complex analysis, quantum mechanics, nuclear and particle physics, and solid-state physics while continuing to develop research capabilities. The final year provides opportunities for advanced specialisation through subjects such as computational quantum mechanics, astrophysics, high-performance computing, functional analysis, and advanced topics in physics and astronomy. Students complete their studies through either a physics honours dissertation or an advanced science capstone project, applying their knowledge to research or innovative scientific challenges. Throughout the course, students develop strong analytical, mathematical, computational, and experimental skills that prepare them for careers in scientific research, technology, engineering, data analysis, and advanced computing. The program equips graduates to contribute to major scientific projects and emerging technologies requiring advanced physics expertise.
