The Photography program at Collarts provides a comprehensive foundation for students aspiring to pursue careers in commercial, advertising, editorial, portrait, or artistic photography. The first-year curriculum is designed to develop both technical skills and creative vision, ensuring students gain a well-rounded understanding of the photographic arts. The program is structured across multiple streams, including Photography Studies, Creative Development, Production and Practice, and Creative Foundations, allowing students to balance theoretical knowledge with practical application. Photography Studies units, such as Photographic Lighting, introduce students to essential lighting techniques and their impact on mood, composition, and visual storytelling. Creative Development units, including Camera Fundamentals, Portraiture, and Design Principles for Photography, build technical proficiency while fostering artistic expression and an understanding of visual aesthetics. Production and Practice units, such as Photographic Post-Production and Photographic Compositing, focus on digital workflow, editing, and image manipulation, equipping students with the post-production skills necessary for professional photography.
