COURSE CURRICULUM

In the first year of the program, students are introduced to essential design concepts and foundational skills spread across three trimesters. The contexts stream includes courses like Design Thinking and Innovation and Persuasion and Representation, which encourage creative problem-solving and communication strategies. In the principles stream, students study Design Principles, Elements, and Colour, which are fundamental to developing a strong visual language. The practice stream focuses on practical skills such as Typography Fundamentals and Motion Design, allowing students to gain hands-on experience with type and animation. Additionally, the program incorporates Copywriting to improve students’ ability to craft compelling messages. The creative foundations courses provide a broad understanding of creative processes and industry standards, helping students build a solid base for their design education. Overall, the first year emphasizes building core skills and knowledge that support further study and practice in graphic and digital design.
