COURSE CURRICULUM

The Digital & Social Media course at Collarts is designed to develop students’ skills across context, principles, and practical applications of digital communication and content creation. In the first year, students explore foundational concepts such as persuasion and representation, media and society, and design principles including elements and colour theory. They also gain hands-on experience with digital photography and copywriting, alongside creative and industry foundation units.The second year builds on this foundation by introducing audio storytelling, contemporary art and culture, user experience and interface design, and principles of motion design. Students also develop practical skills in video production and digital storytelling, while learning about human-centred design and data analysis, visualisation, and information design.In the third year, students focus on advanced topics including communication law, ethics, and regulation, as well as creative entrepreneurship to prepare for industry challenges. The course culminates in a Digital & Social Media Capstone project where students apply their knowledge to real-world scenarios, supported by capstone development units. Additionally, students can choose electives and undertake industry placements to further tailor their learning and gain professional experience.Overall, the course offers a comprehensive education in digital media strategies, content creation, and audience engagement, preparing graduates to confidently enter the dynamic digital and social media industry.
