COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Information Technology with a Web Development major at Charles Sturt University provides students with a strong foundation in core IT knowledge and specialised skills in designing and developing modern web systems. The core subjects, totaling 86 credit points, cover essential areas such as programming principles, database systems, computer systems, internet technologies, systems analysis and design, ICT project management, communication and information management, and IT ethics and professional practice. Students also gain real-world experience through IT work placement and develop professional skills through subjects focused on emotional intelligence, workplace resilience, personal portfolio building, and data analysis and insights. Additional learning in network forensics helps students understand security aspects of digital systems. The program includes a 64-credit-point Web Development major, focusing on web design, web programming, user experience, and the development of responsive websites and online applications. Students also have the option to complete a 32-credit-point minor in areas such as cyber security, network engineering, entrepreneurship, management and leadership, psychology, or software and application development, allowing them to expand their career opportunities. An unrestricted elective provides further flexibility in study choices. Overall, this degree prepares students for careers as web developers, front-end and back-end developers, UI/UX designers, and digital technology professionals in Australia and internationally.
