COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Information Technology with a Software and Application Development major at Charles Sturt University provides students with a strong foundation in core IT knowledge and advanced software development skills. The core subjects, totaling 86 credit points, cover essential areas such as programming principles, database systems, computer systems, internet technologies, systems analysis and design, ICT project management, communication and information management, and IT ethics and professional practice. Students also gain practical industry experience through an IT work placement, along with professional development subjects that focus on emotional intelligence, workplace resilience, personal portfolio building, and data analysis and insights. Additional study in network forensics helps students understand security aspects of IT systems. The program includes a 64-credit-point Software and Application Development major, which focuses on programming, software design, application development, and building high-quality, efficient digital solutions for real-world problems. Students also have the option to complete a 32-credit-point minor in areas such as cyber security, network engineering, entrepreneurship, management and leadership, psychology, or web development, allowing them to broaden their career opportunities. An unrestricted elective provides further flexibility in learning.
