COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Agricultural Business Management at Charles Sturt University is structured to provide a strong foundation in agriculture, business, and industry-focused practical skills. The core subjects (168 credit points) cover a wide range of essential areas such as agricultural economics, agribusiness systems, marketing, commodity trade, risk and investment, and business planning. Students also study biology in agriculture, livestock and plant production systems, soil science, crop management, and precision agriculture, ensuring a strong scientific and technical understanding of farming systems. In addition, the program includes subjects in agribusiness finance, human resource management, business law, and property planning, helping students develop management and decision-making skills required in the agricultural sector. The curriculum also integrates cultural and social learning through First Nations foundations and food environment studies, broadening students’ understanding of agriculture in society. A compulsory industry practice or international practical experience subject provides real-world exposure. Students are also required to complete 16 credit points of electives, allowing flexibility to specialize or explore additional interests. Overall, the program combines science, business, and hands-on industry training to prepare graduates for careers in farming enterprises, agribusiness companies, commodity markets, and agricultural consultancy, making them job-ready for the global agriculture industry.
