COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Public Health and Master of Health Research is a 160-credit-point program designed to build advanced skills in public health practice and research. The course includes 80 credit points of core units covering key public health and research foundations such as Indigenous health, epidemiology, health policy, public health principles, research design, research ethics and impact, biostatistics, and qualitative research methods. These units provide a strong base for understanding and analysing population health issues and developing evidence-based solutions. Students then complete 40 credit points of specialist electives, which can be chosen from public health or health research streams, allowing them to deepen knowledge in areas such as health promotion, global health, health systems, environmental policy, disaster management, health economics, chronic disease control, clinical trials, communicable disease control, and Indigenous health research. The program also includes a 40-credit-point research component, where students undertake either a full-time research project or part-time research project units, developing advanced skills in study design, data analysis, and academic writing. Overall, the degree integrates public health knowledge with rigorous research training, enabling graduates to critically evaluate health issues, design interventions, and contribute to policy and evidence-based practice in local and global health contexts.
