COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Occupational Therapy is a 160-credit-point program consisting of 13 core units designed to develop the knowledge, skills, and professional competence required for practice as an occupational therapist. The course provides a strong foundation in human anatomy and physiology through introductory units that support understanding of the human body and its functions. Students also study First Nations health perspectives and research skills for health professionals to build cultural awareness and evidence-based practice capabilities. Core occupational therapy subjects introduce students to the foundations of the profession, occupational participation, and the concept of humans as occupational beings. The program then progresses into applied practice areas, including mental health, children and youth, and adult and older adult occupational therapy approaches, ensuring students develop skills across the lifespan. Practical learning is a key component, with multiple occupational therapy practice units that provide supervised real-world experience in clinical and community settings. These placements progressively build professional competence, clinical reasoning, and confidence in delivering client-centred care.
