COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Nursing Practice (Pre-Registration) is a 160-credit-point program made up of 15 core units designed to prepare students for professional registration as a registered nurse and safe independent clinical practice. The course provides comprehensive training in nursing theory, clinical skills, and healthcare systems, ensuring graduates are ready to work in diverse healthcare environments. Core learning areas include Australian First Nations people’s health and social justice, the structure and function of the human body and related nursing care, pharmacology, research for healthcare practice, and understanding the Australian health system. Students also develop essential clinical competencies through multiple clinical practice units, including general, acute, mental health, specialist, and high-acuity nursing care. These units progressively build students’ confidence and ability to provide safe, evidence-based, and patient-centred care across different healthcare settings. Leadership in clinical practice and transition to safe independent practice units further prepare students for professional responsibilities as registered nurses. The program also includes strong research training and evidence-based practice development to enhance clinical decision-making and lifelong learning.
