COURSE CURRICULUM

The program is structured to develop both foundational and advanced engineering knowledge through a total of 240 credit points, combining undergraduate preparation, postgraduate study, specialist learning, and research training. It begins with a core undergraduate unit in Mathematics 2A, followed by 70 credit points of undergraduate specialist electives in Civil and Structural Engineering. These cover essential topics such as statics, mechanics of solids, fluid and thermodynamics, geomechanics, hydraulics and soil mechanics, steel and concrete structures, and construction technology, building a strong base in engineering fundamentals. At the postgraduate level, students complete 50 credit points of core units focused on sustainability, project management, risk and reliability, machine learning, artificial intelligence, algorithms, and professional engineering practice, developing modern technical and managerial competencies. This is complemented by 70 credit points of postgraduate specialist electives in advanced civil and structural engineering areas, including water resources engineering, road and traffic engineering, advanced structural analysis, geotechnical engineering, and structural design of concrete and steel structures. The program also includes 40 credit points of research training through academic and industry research development units, followed by either an industry-based design project or an academic research thesis. Overall, the structure integrates technical depth, professional skills, and research experience to prepare graduates for advanced careers in civil and structural engineering.
