COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Engineering program requires students to successfully complete 160 credit points through a combination of core units, specialist electives, and research units designed to develop advanced technical, professional, and research capabilities. The course includes 50 credit points of compulsory core units covering sustainability, project management, risk and reliability, machine learning, artificial intelligence, algorithms, competitiveness, and professional engineering practice. These subjects provide students with essential knowledge in modern engineering methods, leadership, innovation, and sustainable industry practices. Students specializing in Civil and Structural Engineering must complete 70 credit points of specialist elective units focused on advanced engineering applications, including water resources engineering, road and traffic engineering, advanced structural analysis, geotechnical engineering, design of concrete structures, design of steel structures, and structural analysis. These units build expertise in the planning, design, and management of infrastructure and structural systems. In addition, students complete 40 credit points of research-focused study to strengthen analytical, investigative, and problem-solving skills. This includes units in academic and industry research and development, followed by either an industry design and research project or an academic research thesis. The course structure combines technical specialization, practical application, and research experience to prepare graduates for advanced professional engineering careers and leadership roles in industry and research environments.
