COURSE CURRICULUM

The Pharmacy program is a 240 credit point graduate-entry master’s degree designed to prepare students for professional registration and practice as pharmacists. It consists of 14 core units that provide a comprehensive foundation in pharmacy science, clinical practice, research, and professional skills. Students study key subjects such as Allied Health Business and Management, Introduction to Pharmacy, and a series of Applied Pharmacotherapy in Patient Care units that progressively build clinical decision-making skills across different stages of patient care. The program also includes core science-focused units covering how medicines work, including metabolism and pharmacokinetics, medicinal chemistry, drug design, formulation, and compounding. A strong emphasis is placed on Quality Use of Medicines, ensuring students develop the ability to promote safe, effective, and evidence-based medication use. Research and analytical skills are developed through a dedicated research project and supporting research methods unit. Additional coursework in diversity and inclusion in healthcare ensures graduates are prepared to work effectively in culturally diverse settings, while integrated case management strengthens real-world clinical reasoning. Overall, the program combines science, clinical practice, research, and professional training to produce competent pharmacists capable of working in community, hospital, and healthcare systems with strong patient care and communication skills.
