COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Software Engineering (Honours) is a 320-credit-point program designed to develop highly skilled professionals in software development, systems design, and advanced computing technologies. The course includes a small common component of 20 credit points, where students study cultural capabilities and choose between communication, design, or literacy-focused foundation units. The core structure consists of 250 credit points across a wide range of computing and software engineering subjects, providing deep knowledge in areas such as programming, algorithms, operating systems, databases, networking, cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, machine learning, mobile and web development, and software engineering processes. Students also study specialised subjects like digital systems, enterprise networks, distributed systems, and human-computer interaction, ensuring they gain both theoretical understanding and practical application skills. A key feature of the program is a 40-credit-point research component, where students complete an honours thesis over two units, developing advanced research, analytical, and problem-solving abilities. In addition, students complete one elective unit, allowing further specialisation. The program emphasises modern industry practices, software development methodologies, and emerging technologies, preparing graduates for careers in software engineering, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, data science, and IT systems development.
