COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Science with a Landscape Restoration major is a 240-credit-point program designed to prepare students for careers in environmental restoration, land management, and sustainable ecosystem recovery. The course begins with core scientific studies in earth systems, biodiversity, research methods, and the interaction between science, technology, and society, building a strong foundation in environmental science. The Landscape Restoration major focuses on applied knowledge and field-based learning, combining ecology, soil science, hydrology, and environmental monitoring to address land degradation and ecosystem rehabilitation. Students study key subjects such as introductory ecology, environmental physiology, aquatic ecosystem chemistry, flora and fauna surveying, hydraulics and soil mechanics, and catchment hydrology. A strong emphasis is placed on practical fieldwork, including ecological surveys, spatial analysis using GIS, and environmental modelling. Students also engage with Indigenous land and resource knowledge, supporting culturally informed approaches to restoration and land care. Advanced units in ecological restoration, environmental monitoring, and data analysis help students develop the technical and analytical skills required for real-world environmental problem-solving. Elective options allow further exploration of environmental modelling, spatial data analysis, and professional practice in science. Overall, the program equips graduates with scientific knowledge, technical expertise, and field experience to work in ecosystem restoration, conservation planning, natural resource management, and environmental consultancy roles.
