COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Nursing is a 240-credit-point professionally accredited degree designed to prepare students for registration and practice as qualified registered nurses. The program includes 230 credit points of core units that provide comprehensive knowledge and practical skills in nursing care, anatomy and physiology, pharmacology, mental health nursing, pathophysiology, professional nursing practice, research, and evidence-based healthcare. Students develop the ability to deliver safe, ethical, and patient-centred care across a variety of healthcare settings while also learning leadership, communication, and clinical decision-making skills. The course places strong emphasis on First Nations health perspectives and culturally safe healthcare practices, ensuring graduates are prepared to work effectively with diverse communities. A major component of the program is professional experience placement, where students complete six clinical placement units throughout the degree. These placements provide extensive real-world experience in hospitals, healthcare facilities, and community settings, helping students apply theoretical knowledge in clinical practice. Students also complete preparation-for-practice units that build confidence and readiness for workplace environments. In addition, students select one specialist elective unit focused on higher acuity care, extended care, primary healthcare, or global nursing experience placements, allowing further professional development in areas of interest. Overall, the degree combines academic learning, simulation training, and extensive clinical placements to prepare graduates for modern nursing careers in a wide range of healthcare environments.
