COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Engineering Technologist (Mechanical Engineering stream) is a 240-credit-point program designed to develop strong technical knowledge, practical engineering skills, and professional competence for industry-focused careers. The program consists of 140 credit points of core units that provide a solid foundation in mathematics, physics, engineering principles, design innovation, software systems, project management, safety, risk, and professional engineering practice. Students also gain exposure to modern engineering tools and technologies such as the Internet of Things, data analytics, and programming, along with essential communication and design skills. A key component of the degree is the specialist elective stream in Mechanical Engineering, which accounts for 80 credit points. This includes subjects such as mechanics of solids, manufacturing technologies, fluid and thermodynamics, dynamics, materials engineering, systems modelling and control, machine design principles, and programming. These units prepare students to work in areas such as automotive systems, manufacturing, energy systems, robotics, and industrial machinery. The curriculum is designed to balance theoretical understanding with practical application, ensuring students can solve real-world engineering problems effectively.
