COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) is a 320-credit-point program designed to produce highly skilled mechanical engineers with strong theoretical knowledge and practical problem-solving abilities. The course includes 150 credit points of core units that provide a foundation in engineering principles, mathematics, data analytics, software systems, sustainability, safety, risk management, project management, and professional engineering practice. These core subjects ensure students develop essential analytical, technical, and professional skills required in modern engineering industries. In addition, students complete 130 credit points of specialist elective units in Mechanical Engineering, covering advanced topics such as mechanics of solids, manufacturing technologies, fluid and thermodynamics, systems modelling and control, machine design principles, materials engineering, dynamics of engineering systems, renewable energy systems, applied fluid mechanics, heat and mass transfer, engines and turbomachinery, and advanced machine design. This specialist stream equips students with in-depth knowledge of mechanical systems used in automotive, aerospace, energy, and manufacturing industries. The program also includes 40 credit points of research units, where students engage in academic research methods and industry-focused projects, including either a research thesis or a professional engineering design project. Overall, the degree integrates core engineering science, specialised mechanical engineering training, and research experience to prepare graduates for careers in design, manufacturing, energy systems, transport, and sustainable engineering innovation.
