COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) is a 320-credit-point program designed to develop highly skilled, industry-ready engineers with strong theoretical knowledge and practical expertise. The course includes 150 credit points of core units that build essential foundations in engineering science, mathematics, data analytics, software systems, project management, safety, risk, sustainability, and professional engineering practice. These core subjects ensure students gain both technical competence and professional skills required for modern engineering careers. In addition, students complete a specialist elective stream in Civil and Structural Engineering, covering advanced topics such as mechanics of solids, surveying and construction, fluid and thermodynamics, geomechanics, materials engineering, steel and concrete structures, water resources engineering, road and traffic engineering, and advanced structural or geotechnical design. This allows students to develop deep expertise in infrastructure and structural systems. The program also includes 40 credit points of research units, where students engage in academic research methods, industry-focused research and development, and either a research thesis or an industry design project. These components contribute to honours-level learning and professional readiness. Overall, the degree combines strong theoretical foundations, specialised technical training, and applied research experience to prepare graduates for careers in civil, structural, and infrastructure engineering, with a strong emphasis on innovation, safety, and sustainable development.
