COURSE CURRICULUM

The Professional Major consists of 10 units and allows students to specialise in Civil, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering while developing advanced technical and professional engineering skills. This flexible structure enables students to follow a chosen engineering discipline by selecting five recommended units aligned with their career goals. For Civil Engineering, students may study Geotechnical Engineering Design, Concrete Design, Steel and Masonry Design, Advanced Transportation Engineering Design, Advanced Water Engineering, and Introduction to Engineering Asset and Maintenance Management, which focus on infrastructure design, construction, and sustainability. For Electrical Engineering, recommended units include Embedded System Design, Introduction to Programming, Advanced Power System Analysis and Control, Advanced Electrical Machines and Drives, Advanced Communication Systems, and Digital Control Systems, which develop expertise in automation, power systems, and modern electrical technologies. For Mechanical Engineering, students may choose Finite Element Analysis for Engineering Design, Advanced Dynamic Systems Control, Fluid Power Engineering and Control, Thermofluids Engineering Applications, and Engineering Asset and Maintenance Management, focusing on mechanical design, energy systems, and industrial processes. In addition to discipline units, students complete four elective units, which may lead to a Graduate Certificate in Project Management or Information Technology, depending on their selection. The program also includes a Capstone Engineering Project, where students apply their knowledge to solve complex engineering problems. Overall, this major prepares graduates for advanced professional roles across civil, electrical, and mechanical engineering industries with strong technical, analytical, and project management skills.
