COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Engineering (Mechanical Major) requires completion of 11 units (96 credits), including one core unit and a ten-unit Mechanical major focused on advanced mechanical engineering theory and professional practice. The program develops strong skills in project management, leadership, stakeholder engagement, and sustainable engineering design while preparing students to solve complex mechanical engineering problems. Key discipline units include Introduction to Engineering Asset and Maintenance Management and Finite Element Analysis for Engineering Design, which build understanding of asset reliability and advanced simulation techniques. Students then specialise through advanced units such as Advanced Dynamic Systems Control, Fluid Power Engineering and Control, and Thermofluids Engineering Applications, which cover dynamic systems, hydraulics, automation, and heat transfer processes. Additional flexibility is provided through electives in programming, cybersecurity, database systems, and project management subjects like Project Management Concepts and Initiating and Planning Projects. The course also includes a major research project completed through Engineering Research Project Planning and Implementation, along with Internship Work Experience and Continuing Professional Development, ensuring strong industry exposure. Overall, the program prepares graduates for advanced mechanical engineering careers in design, manufacturing, energy systems, automation, and engineering project management with strong technical and research capabilities.
