COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Engineering (Electrical Major) requires completion of 11 units (96 credits), including one core unit and a ten-unit Electrical major focused on advanced electrical engineering knowledge and professional engineering practice. The program is designed to strengthen project management, leadership, stakeholder engagement, and sustainable engineering capabilities while developing expertise in complex electrical systems. Students study foundational and advanced discipline units such as Introduction to Programming, Embedded System Design, Advanced Power System Analysis and Control, Advanced Electrical Machines and Drives, Advanced Communication Systems, and Digital Control Systems. These subjects develop strong technical skills in power systems, communication technologies, automation, embedded systems, and electrical machine analysis according to industry standards. Students can further customise their studies through electives such as Cyber Security and Networking, Database Design and Development, Information Systems Analysis and Design, and project management-focused subjects including Project Management Concepts, Initiating and Planning Projects, Executing and Closing Projects, and Leading Lean Projects. The course also includes Introduction to Engineering Asset and Maintenance Management, which strengthens understanding of engineering infrastructure and operational reliability. A major research project completed through Engineering Research Project Planning and Engineering Research Project Implementation allows students to apply advanced research and problem-solving skills to real engineering challenges. Industry exposure is provided through Internship Work Experience and Continuing Professional Development units. Overall, the program prepares graduates for advanced careers in electrical engineering, power systems, automation, communication technologies, and engineering project management.
