COURSE CURRICULUM

The Aircraft Maintenance – Mechanical major (offered only at Aviation Australia’s Brisbane campus) is designed to prepare students for careers in aircraft maintenance and aviation engineering by combining engineering fundamentals with specialised aviation systems knowledge. The program begins with foundational units such as Analytical Methods and Physics for Aircraft Maintenance, Electrical Fundamentals, Electronic Fundamentals, Applied Mathematics, Introduction to Contemporary Engineering, Engineering Industry Project Investigation, and Human Factors and Aviation Legislation, which build essential technical understanding along with safety and regulatory awareness critical in aviation. Students then progress into core aircraft maintenance subjects including Aircraft Structural Maintenance Practices, Aircraft Materials and Hardware, Instrumentation Systems for Aircraft Structural Maintenance, Aircraft Structures and Systems, Aerodynamics and Airframe Systems, Gas Turbine Engines, Propeller Maintenance, and Thermofluid Engineering for Aviation. These units provide deep knowledge of aircraft design, operation, and maintenance systems. Advanced topics such as Advanced Engineering Design, Advanced Materials in Aviation, Sustainable Energy for Aviation, and Remote Piloted Aircraft Systems further enhance modern aviation skills. Practical learning is reinforced through Engineering Practice Experience (internship or placement) and project-based units like Engineering Technology Project Planning and Implementation. Overall, this major prepares graduates for careers in aircraft maintenance, aviation engineering, and aerospace support industries with strong emphasis on safety, technical precision, and industry readiness.
