COURSE CURRICULUM

The Mechanical with Renewable Energy major integrates core mechanical engineering principles with advanced renewable energy technologies to prepare students for the global transition toward sustainable energy systems. The program begins with foundational units such as Applied Computational Modelling, Engineering Statics, Materials for Engineers, Engineering Dynamics, Fundamentals of Sustainable Energy, Creative Engineering, and Engineering Futures, which build strong analytical, design, and problem-solving skills. Students then progress into core mechanical engineering subjects including Fluid Mechanics, Structural Mechanics, Thermodynamics, Maintenance Engineering, Fluid Machinery, Bulk Materials Handling, Design of Machine Elements, Energy Conversion, Mechanical Design Practice, and Capstone Thermofluid Engineering. These units provide a strong understanding of mechanical systems used in energy generation and industrial applications. A key focus of this major is renewable energy technologies through specialised units such as Renewable Energy Systems and Simulation and Hydrogen and Emerging Energy Systems, which explore solar, wind, bioenergy, and hydrogen-based solutions. Dynamic System Modelling and Control further enhances skills in system performance and optimisation. Materials and Manufacturing supports understanding of sustainable production methods.
