COURSE CURRICULUM

The Mechanical with Process Systems major integrates mechanical engineering with chemical and industrial process systems to develop expertise in designing, analysing, and optimising large-scale production and manufacturing processes. The program begins with foundational engineering units such as Applied Computational Modelling, Engineering Statics, Materials for Engineers, Engineering Dynamics, Fundamentals of Sustainable Energy, Engineering Futures, and Mechanical Design Practice, which build strong analytical and design capabilities. Students then study core mechanical engineering subjects including Fluid Mechanics, Structural Mechanics, Thermodynamics, Maintenance Engineering, Fluid Machinery, Bulk Materials Handling, Design of Machine Elements, Energy Conversion, and Capstone Thermofluid Engineering. These units provide deep understanding of machines, thermal systems, and industrial equipment used in process industries. A key feature of this major is its focus on chemical and process engineering integration through units such as Fundamentals of Chemistry, Fundamentals of Process Systems, Process Safety and Risk Management, Design and Control of Process Elements, and Process Systems Simulation and Optimisation.
