COURSE CURRICULUM

The Mechanical with Industrial Automation major integrates core mechanical engineering principles with advanced automation, robotics, and control technologies to prepare students for modern smart industry systems. The program begins with foundational units such as Applied Computational Modelling, Engineering Statics, Materials for Engineers, Engineering Dynamics, Fundamentals of Sustainable Energy, Creative Engineering, and Engineering Futures, which build strong analytical, mathematical, and design skills. Students then study core mechanical engineering subjects including Fluid Mechanics, Structural Mechanics, Thermodynamics, Maintenance Engineering, Fluid Machinery concepts through Thermofluid Engineering, Bulk Materials Handling, Design of Machine Elements, Materials and Manufacturing, and Mechanical Design Practice. These units provide in-depth knowledge of machines, thermal systems, structural behaviour, and industrial processes. A strong emphasis is placed on automation and intelligent systems through specialised units such as Industrial Control and Automation, Robotics and Autonomous Systems, Embedded Microcontrollers, and Introductory Electronics, enabling students to design and manage automated production systems. Dynamic System Modelling and Control further strengthens understanding of system behaviour and performance. Capstone Thermofluid Engineering integrates mechanical and automation concepts into real-world engineering solutions. Overall, this major prepares graduates for careers in robotics, smart manufacturing, industrial automation, mechanical design, and advanced engineering systems, with strong focus on innovation, efficiency, and modern industrial technologies.
