COURSE CURRICULUM

The Electrical Engineering major is designed to provide a comprehensive understanding of electrical, electronic, and power systems used in modern industry and infrastructure. Students begin with core engineering foundation units such as Applied Computational Modelling, Fundamentals of Sustainable Energy, Engineering Statics, Materials for Engineers, Creative Engineering, and Engineering Futures. These build essential mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills required for advanced electrical engineering study. The program then focuses on key technical areas including Electrical Circuit Analysis, Electrical Power Engineering, Signals and Systems, Introductory Electronics, Control Systems Analysis and Design, Power System Analysis and Design, Communication Technology, Electrical Machines and Drives Applications, Embedded Microcontrollers, Power Electronics, and Power System Protection. These units prepare students to design and manage systems used in power generation, transmission, renewable energy, telecommunications, automation, and electronics. Advanced design learning is strengthened through Capstone Power and Control Design, where students apply their knowledge to real-world engineering projects. Industry-relevant knowledge is supported through units such as Engineering Dynamics, Maintenance Engineering, Industrial Control and Automation, Programming Fundamentals, and Foundations of Business Law. Students also choose one elective from areas like Humanitarian Engineering, Business, Construction, or Control Systems depending on their interests. Overall, the major equips graduates with strong technical expertise to develop safe, reliable, and innovative electrical and electronic systems that support modern society and future technologies.
