COURSE CURRICULUM

The Electrical with Information Processing major combines electrical engineering with computing and information systems to develop expertise in modern digital and automated technologies. The program begins with foundational engineering and mathematics units such as Fundamentals of Sustainable Energy, Applied Computational Modelling, Engineering Statics, Materials for Engineers, and Engineering Futures, which build strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Students then study core electrical engineering subjects including Electrical Circuit Analysis, Electrical Power Engineering, Signals and Systems, Introductory Electronics, Control Systems Analysis and Design, Power System Analysis and Design, Communication Technology, Electrical Machines and Drives Applications, Embedded Microcontrollers, and Power System Protection. These units develop a deep understanding of how electrical systems generate, transmit, and process information. Alongside this, students gain strong computing and software skills through Programming Fundamentals, Systems Analysis, Database Design and Implementation, Human-Computer Interaction, and Internet Applications, enabling them to design intelligent and user-focused digital systems. The Capstone Power and Control Design project integrates electrical engineering and information processing concepts in a real-world context. Overall, this major prepares graduates for careers in smart infrastructure, communication systems, automation, data-driven engineering, and advanced information processing technologies where electrical systems and digital computing work together to optimise performance and efficiency.
