COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Aviation at CQUniversity requires the completion of either 21 or 23 units, depending on the chosen major, with international students limited to the Airline and Airport Operations major. The program is structured to provide a strong foundation in aviation theory, safety, operations, and management, combining core units with specialised major units to prepare students for careers in the aviation industry.The core units cover essential aspects of aviation knowledge and professional skills. These include Introduction to Aviation (AVAT11013), which provides an overview of the aviation industry; Flight Fundamentals (AVAT11005), focusing on basic flight principles; and Aviation Safety Fundamentals (AVAT11010), emphasizing safety practices and risk management. Introduction to Flight Operations (AVAT11012) is supported by a residential school to provide practical experience, while Introduction to Aviation Management (AVAT11008) and Principles and Practice of Aviation Law and Policy (AVAT11009) develop knowledge of management principles, regulations, and legal frameworks within aviation. The unit Air Freight Transportation (AVAT12018) introduces students to the operational and logistical aspects of cargo and freight management in the aviation sector.Alongside these core units, students complete 13 to 15 major units depending on their specialisation, allowing them to focus on areas such as airline and airport operations, management, and logistics. The combination of theoretical learning, practical exercises, and exposure to industry practices through CQUniversity’s partnerships and networks ensures that graduates develop both the technical expertise and professional skills required to pursue careers in airline operations, airport management, aviation logistics, and other related fields. This integrated approach equips students to enter the aviation industry with a strong foundation and career-ready experience.
