COURSE CURRICULUM

The Biomedical Science (Pre-Health) and Exercise and Sports Science structure provides students with a strong interdisciplinary foundation designed to support future study and careers in health, science, and allied disciplines. Students are required to complete seventy credit points of core subjects that build essential academic, scientific, and professional skills. These subjects include Academic Skills to support effective university-level learning, alongside foundational science units such as Introduction to Chemistry and Chemistry for Living Systems, which establish an understanding of chemical principles relevant to biological processes. Principles of Human Structure and Function and Human Organ Systems 1 introduce students to anatomy and physiology, developing knowledge of how the human body is organised and functions in health contexts. Elementary Maths equips students with the quantitative skills needed for scientific analysis and problem solving, while Critical Thinking and Communication strengthens reasoning, academic writing, and presentation skills essential for scientific and professional practice. Collaboration for Global Change develops teamwork, ethical awareness, and the ability to address complex global health and sustainability challenges. In addition to these seventy credit points, students must complete a ten credit point subject within the Biomedical Science (Pre-Health) structure, allowing them to further explore biomedical concepts aligned with pre-health pathways. Students are also required to complete a ten credit point subject within the Exercise and Sports Science structure, providing exposure to physical activity, human movement, and exercise-related health science. Together, this structured combination of core scientific knowledge, practical skills, and interdisciplinary learning prepares students for further study in health-related degrees and equips them with transferable skills valued across a wide range of health, science, and professional environments.
