COURSE CURRICULUM

In the first year of the Bachelor of Global Studies (Sustainability) at Bond University, students begin by building essential interpersonal and employability skills through the university’s core subjects and the Beyond Bond program. These core components are designed to foster critical thinking, communication, leadership, and ethical awareness—qualities that are highly valued in global careers. Beyond Bond, a compulsory activity-based professional development program, further supports students in applying these skills in real-world contexts throughout their studies. In addition to the core curriculum, students are introduced to foundational concepts across the key disciplines of Legal Studies, International Relations, Philosophy, Politics, and Economics. This interdisciplinary approach equips students with a broad understanding of the systems and frameworks that shape global affairs, while laying the groundwork for more advanced study in later years.In the second year, students explore contemporary global challenges in greater depth, examining the political and cultural dimensions of Australian diplomacy and foreign policy. This stage of the program emphasizes critical analysis of how Australia engages with the international community, with a focus on sustainability and ethical leadership. Students are encouraged to apply their academic learning to practical scenarios, preparing them for roles in government, non-governmental organizations, and international bodies. To enhance the learning experience and promote career readiness, students select general electives from a wide range of undergraduate subjects available across the university. These electives allow for personalisation of the degree, with options to broaden academic interests or to develop specific skills. Students are strongly encouraged to undertake an internship as one of their electives. This provides valuable workplace experience, enabling them to build professional networks and gain insights into global policy, advocacy, or international development fields.
