COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Global Studies (Sustainability) is structured to progressively build students’ understanding of global challenges while developing strong analytical, leadership, and intercultural skills across two years of study. In the first year, students are introduced to the degree through Bond University’s unique core subjects, which ensure that every student develops essential capabilities in critical thinking, collaboration, leadership, and integrity. Alongside these foundations, students study a balanced mix of sustainability and international relations subjects each semester, exploring key global issues such as climate change and global health. These subjects provide an early understanding of how environmental, social, and political factors intersect at a global level. Students also complete one subject from their chosen major or select an elective, allowing them to begin tailoring their studies to their interests and future career goals from the outset. In the second year, students move into more advanced study, delving deeper into the complexities and nuances of diplomacy and globalisation. This stage of the program strengthens their understanding of international cooperation, global governance, and transnational challenges, while encouraging critical engagement with real-world issues. Year two study is complemented by the completion of remaining major subjects and a selection of general electives chosen from across the university. This flexible structure allows students to broaden their academic experience, deepen expertise in their chosen major, and align their studies with specific interests or professional pathways. Together, the progression from foundational learning in the first year to advanced, specialised study in the second year ensures that graduates develop the knowledge, skills, and global perspective required to contribute effectively to sustainable development and international collaboration.
