COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Actuarial Science is structured to develop strong analytical, financial, and professional skills across three years of study, preparing students for careers in finance, risk management, and actuarial practice. In the first year, students complete the core curriculum, which includes three foundational subjects—Critical Thinking and Communication, Responsibility, Integrity and Civic Discourse, and Collaboration for Global Change—alongside the Beyond Bond Program. These subjects ensure students develop essential skills in critical thinking, collaboration, leadership, ethical decision-making, and professional communication, while Beyond Bond provides a practical, activity-based approach to employability and career readiness. In the second year, students advance into six intermediate subjects, including financial mathematics, contingent payment methods, corporate finance, and actuarial and financial models, which build their technical expertise in financial analysis and risk assessment. Students also complete six electives, which may contribute to available majors, allowing them to tailor their studies to personal interests and career goals. In the third and final year, students complete their remaining required subjects while having the option to undertake a study tour or business internship as an elective, providing valuable practical experience and industry exposure. Additionally, students may choose to participate in an International Semester or Exchange Program at one of more than 80 partner universities, gaining a global perspective and enhancing their professional and academic experience over one or two semesters. This program structure, based on a full-time study load with a January start date, ensures that graduates develop comprehensive actuarial knowledge, practical skills, and global awareness, equipping them to succeed in competitive, data-driven, and financially focused career environments. International students study in January and September semesters only, ensuring alignment with the program’s full-time schedule and professional development opportunities.
