COURSE CURRICULUM

The Theology units within the Associate Degree in Theological Studies provide students with a comprehensive understanding of Christian belief, practice, and history, while also encouraging critical engagement with contemporary issues. The course begins with foundational subjects such as Theology & Faith and Introduction to Adventist Heritage, which establish a strong base in doctrinal understanding and denominational history. Students then progress to subjects like Survey of Ethics & Philosophy, where they explore moral frameworks and philosophical thought, fostering the ability to address ethical questions in both personal and professional contexts.As students advance, units such as Revelation, Inspiration & Hermeneutics equip them with interpretative tools for engaging with scripture, while History of Christianity provides a broader understanding of the church’s development and influence over time. The curriculum also integrates regional and cultural perspectives, with Religion & Belief in Australasia offering insights into the dynamics of faith in the local context.In the later stages, advanced theological exploration is introduced through subjects like Salvation & Eschatology, which examine doctrines of redemption and the future hope central to Christian faith, and The Doctrine of God & the Work of Christ, focusing on the nature of God and the significance of Christ’s mission. Ecclesiology & Sabbath delves into the theology of the church and the role of the Sabbath, central to Adventist practice, while Contemporary Issues in Science & Theology allows students to critically assess the relationship between faith and modern scientific thought.By combining historical, philosophical, doctrinal, and contextual studies, these theology units provide a well-rounded academic and spiritual formation.
