COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Science requires completion of 144 units and is designed to provide both disciplinary depth and flexible scientific exploration. Students may complete a maximum of 60 units at the 1000 level and must undertake at least 12 units in Transdisciplinary Problem-Solving courses. A minimum of 30 units must be completed at the 3000 level within an approved science major, ensuring advanced study in fields such as biology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, psychology, neuroscience, environmental science, earth sciences, or related disciplines. The program also requires at least 6 units of quantitative research skills training, chosen from approved courses in biology, environmental science, psychology, earth sciences, mathematics, or statistics. Students must complete at least 84 units from core science subject areas, including foundational 1000-level courses and introductory computing or programming options relevant to scientific study. A key component of the degree is the completion of a 48-unit science major, which provides focused expertise in a chosen field such as astronomy, climate science, computer science, ecology, chemistry, or mathematics. Students must also complete at least 24 units of additional science courses not previously taken, broadening their interdisciplinary understanding. The remaining 48 units are elective courses offered by ANU, allowing students to customise their studies or pursue additional majors or minors. Overall, the degree develops strong analytical, quantitative, and research skills, preparing graduates for careers in science, technology, healthcare, environmental management, research, and postgraduate study.
