COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Politics, Philosophy and Economics (PPE) requires the completion of 144 units and provides a rigorous interdisciplinary education that combines political science, philosophy, and economics. Students may complete a maximum of 60 units at the 1000 level and must undertake at least 18 units at the 3000 level, including a minimum of 12 units in Transdisciplinary Problem-Solving courses. At least 90 units must come from the core PPE curriculum, including compulsory studies in microeconomics, politics, philosophy, logic, research methods, and a sequence of integrative PPE courses that connect the three disciplines and culminate in the capstone course PPE Integration 3. Students also complete additional economics study through macroeconomics or advanced economics, as well as advanced coursework in political science and philosophy. Political science options include topics such as public choice, international political economy, Australian politics, federalism, elections, political behaviour, lobbying, and game theory, while philosophy options explore ethics, public policy, rationality, philosophy of science, gender, artificial intelligence, and social cooperation. Students further complete advanced economics, econometrics, or economic history courses to strengthen their analytical and quantitative skills. The program also offers opportunities for experiential learning through internships, industry projects, and international study tours. With at least 48 units of electives, students can tailor their studies to individual interests. Overall, the degree develops strong analytical, critical thinking, communication, and problem-solving abilities, preparing graduates for leadership roles in government, policy, law, business, consulting, international organisations, and research.
