COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Philosophy, Neuroscience and Psychology (BPNP) requires the completion of 144 units and provides a highly interdisciplinary curriculum that combines philosophy, neuroscience, and psychology to explore the nature of the mind, brain, and human behaviour. Students may complete a maximum of 60 units at the 1000 level and must complete at least 30 units at the 3000 level, including a minimum of 12 units in Transdisciplinary Problem-Solving courses. The program includes 18 units of compulsory integrative courses that introduce the interdisciplinary foundations of the degree, examine advanced topics, and culminate in a research project. Students complete 24 units in Philosophy, including logic, critical thinking, philosophy of mind, philosophy of science or biology, and an advanced 3000-level philosophy course. A further 24 units are devoted to Psychology, covering core areas such as the biological basis of behaviour, quantitative research methods, and neuropsychology. Students also complete 24 units in Neuroscience, studying life sciences, cell physiology, cellular neuroscience, and systems neuroscience to develop a strong scientific understanding of brain function. The degree additionally requires 6 units focused on Indigenous perspectives through health or cultural psychology courses. The remaining 48 units consist of electives, allowing students to broaden or deepen their studies. Overall, the program integrates humanities and science perspectives, develops advanced research and analytical skills, and prepares graduates for postgraduate study and careers in research, healthcare, psychology, neuroscience, and related fields.
