COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Finance requires completion of 144 units and is structured to build strong foundations in economics, quantitative analysis, and financial decision-making. Students may complete a maximum of 60 units at the 1000-level and must complete at least 18 units of 3000-level courses to ensure advanced study. A minimum of 12 units must also be taken in Transdisciplinary Problem-Solving courses to support broader analytical and applied thinking skills. The core program includes 30 units of compulsory courses covering essential areas such as Business Reporting and Analysis, Microeconomics, Foundations of Finance, and Quantitative Research Methods. Students also complete additional foundational study, including either Macroeconomics or Economics 1, and a further 12 units from courses that may include financial statement analysis, fintech, econometric modelling, internships, industry projects, mathematics, statistics, or student-managed investment programs. The degree includes a 48-unit major in either Asian Capital Markets, Capital Markets, or Quantitative Finance, allowing students to specialise in a focused area of financial study. A minimum of 48 units is also taken as electives from across ANU, providing flexibility and interdisciplinary learning opportunities. The Quantitative Finance pathway offers additional mathematical options for students depending on their preparation level. Overall, the program integrates theory, quantitative skills, and practical financial experience to prepare graduates for careers in banking, investment, financial analysis, and global financial markets.
