COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Commerce requires completion of 144 units designed to build strong foundations in business, economics, and analytical skills while allowing flexibility through majors and electives. Students may complete a maximum of 60 units at the 1000-level and must complete at least 18 units at the 3000-level to ensure advanced study. A minimum of 12 units must be taken in Transdisciplinary Problem-Solving courses, which develop critical thinking and applied problem-solving skills. The core program includes 30 units of compulsory courses covering essential business knowledge, including BUSN1001 Business Reporting and Analysis, ECON1101 Microeconomics 1, ECON1102 Macroeconomics 1, MGMT2100 Communication for Business, and STAT1008 Quantitative Research Methods. Students then complete 48 units from a chosen major such as Accounting, Finance, Marketing, Business Analytics, Business Information Systems, International Business, Management, Corporate Sustainability, or Economic Studies, allowing specialisation in a preferred field. In addition, students complete 18 units of elective courses, which may include employability and industry-focused subjects such as internships, global business immersion, indigenous perspectives in business, or special industry projects. The remaining 48 units are flexible electives offered by ANU, enabling students to broaden their academic experience across disciplines or deepen their business knowledge. Overall, the degree combines core business foundations, specialised study, practical experience, and academic flexibility to prepare graduates for diverse careers in business, finance, and management or for further study.
