COURSE CURRICULUM

The Master of Teaching (Secondary) begins in Semester 1 of Year 1, where students undertake two Curriculum, Pedagogy and Assessment units aligned with their specialist teaching areas, although availability may vary and may require some students to complete EDES600 in Semester 1, EDES690 in Winter, and their second CPA unit in Semester 2. Students also complete EDES591, EDET590 with a 15-day professional experience placement, and the LNTE110 diagnostic literacy and numeracy task. In Professional Term 5 of the same year, they undertake EDES590 and EDES600. Semester 2 extends learning through EDES603, EDES690, an elective unit, and EDET690, which includes a 20-day placement. Students must register with ACER to complete the two required LANTITE tests, LNTE100 and LNTE101. In Year 2 Professional Term 2, students progress to CPA Teaching Area 1 Unit 2 and CPA Teaching Area 2 Unit 2, along with EDET692. Semester 1 includes an additional education elective, with students advised not to overload summer, winter, or professional terms. During Professional Term 4, they undertake EDES691. The final semester of Year 2 culminates with EDET691, which includes a 25-day professional experience placement, ensuring graduates meet professional requirements with strong practical experience and advanced understanding of secondary curriculum, pedagogy and assessment across their teaching areas.
